2 distinctive driving modes
The Touareg R plug-in hybrid combines an electric motor and a TSI petrol engine. When the battery is sufficiently charged, you start in virtually silent electric mode, producing zero local carbon emissions. If you activate hybrid mode, you combine both drives for maximum system output of 340 kW.
Towing capacity
With 3.5 tonne braked towing capacity the Touareg is tailor-made for your Kiwi summer adventures. Whether towing a boat or pulling a caravan to scenic spots, The Touareg ensures a seamless and stress-free towing experience.
Off-road driving
Enhance the qualities of the Touareg R PHEV with the off-road package. Alongside seven standard driving modes, OFF-ROAD and SNOW can also be used to adapt the engine and gear settings to the conditions.
Using the 4MOTION Active Control menu in the updated Innovision Cockpit the driver has direct access to the hybrid functions “E mode” and “Hybrid”. By touching “E mode”, the Touareg R plug-in hybrid switches to all-electric drive, and by selecting “Hybrid” mode, the driver unlocks the power of the V6 engine and Boost.
With a sufficiently charged battery the Touareg R always starts in the all-electric “E mode”. It works the other way round in “Hybrid” mode: If required, the driver uses the kick-down function to additionally demand the all-electric power as a “boost”.
The V6 turbo engine always works per kick-down and with sufficiently charged battery is also supported by the all-electric power as a “boost”. Maximum system power of 340 kW plus maximum system torque of 700 Nm – equals maximum dynamics.

Seats
Sustainably tanned with olive leaf extract, the Puglia leather package conveys an exceptionally elegant look and feel in the interior. Piping in ceramique and quilted contrast stitching in the shoulder area and on the insides of the doors lend the seats a special charm.

Huge dimensions for big impressions. The optional tilting and sliding panoramic sunroof covers almost the entire roof and also offers passengers in the rear a virtually unrestricted view of the sky. Adjustability
The Touareg R PHEV is equipped with a Power Adjustable Steering Column, which allows you to easily adjust the position of the steering wheel and find the most comfortable driving position for yourself. The memory function allows you to save your preferred steering wheel position to your separate driving profiles, so you can always have it set up perfectly for you and any other drivers.

The digital instrument cluster and the 38.1 cm (15 inch) screen of the infotainment system form one curved glass surface: the Innovision Cockpit.

HD matrix headlights with Auto Highbeam
Light just where you need it
The HD matrix headlight not only ensures better visibility at night but also supports you while driving. Over 19,000 individually controllable LEDs are used for each headlight.
This means that your Volkswagen is able to project markings onto the road when the high beam is switched on. These make it easier for you to drive through narrow construction zones on the highway or to stay in your lane. The HD matrix headlight also improves the function of Dynamic Light Assist. This means that other road users and traffic signs can be blocked out even more precisely from your own high beam. When you start or park your vehicle, the HD matrix headlight provides a special light animation for you.
Adaptive Cruise Control and Traffic Sign Recognition

Adaptive Cruise Control ACC helps you to maintain a previously set maximum speed and preset distance to the vehicle in front. ACC also supports you with predictive cruise control and cornering assistance.
With Traffic sign recognition, the Adaptive Cruise Control can read road signs and adapt the vehicles speed to the relevant speed limits.
