Your Tiguan with parallel parking assistant (also known as Park Assist Plus) can not only tell you whether a parking space is big enough as you drive by – it also parks for you.
Up to a speed of 40km/h, Park Assist Plus permanently searches for suitable parallel parking spaces. Up to a speed of 19km/h, it also searches for parking bays. Once you have decided on one of the parking spaces found, you start the parking process. Park Assist Plus can carry out the parking manoeuvre for you. It takes over the steering, acceleration and braking. You only have to monitor the parking process and intervene if necessary.
But Park Assist Plus can do even more. It can also drive out of a parallel parking space and can help you with a failed parking manoeuvre by completing the process for you.

The innovative IQ.LIGHT HD matrix headlights on the all‑new Tiguan R-Line Touring Package delight even when at a standstill with more than 19,000 individually controlled LEDs – and also include a welcome & goodbye light projection before and after every journey. The IDA voice assistant allows you to conveniently operate the radio, telephone, your music and the three-zone air conditioning system. This also applies to other vehicle functions such as access to driver assist systems. For example, you can select the radio station or choose the address book entry or telephone number you’re looking for with your voice.
The voice assistant can be started with “Hello IDA”. It also understands free formulations from everyday life such as “I’m cold.” or “Where are there Japanese restaurants in my city?”. In addition, thanks to digital microphones, it now also recognises whether the driver or the passenger is speaking, in order, for example, to provide the air conditioning in the vehicle specifically to the person making the request.
Drive safely and make phone calls at the same time? The Comfort mobile phone interface gives you everything you need for this: the hands-free system has microphones in the roof console, while the internal speakers ensure high sound quality of the voice output. The front storage compartment also has an inductive charging function for wirelessly charging up to two Qi standard-compliant mobile phones simultaneously with a charging capacity of 15 W and device cooling. The Travel Assist function provides you with extremely useful driving assistance on board. It can keep you in your lane, and maintain a minimum distance to the vehicle in front and the maximum speed you have set.
One of the features it uses to do this is adaptive lane guidance. This actively keeps the vehicle in the middle of the lane. Travel Assist adapts to your driving style and can also drive further to the left or right in its lane instead of exactly in the middle.
In addition, Travel Assist offers adaptive cruise control and cornering assistance. The vehicle speed can therefore be adapted to the road layouts (bends, roundabouts, etc.).
Imagine how much easier reverse parking would be if you had eyes on the back of your head. Well, now you do, thanks to the Rear View Camera. It provides a clear video feed of everything behind your car, enabling you to reverse into various spaces effortlessly.
Side Assist with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Exit Warning System
Side Assist lane change system can alert you to dangerous lane changes. An LED lamp in the exterior mirror shows you when a vehicle is in your blind spot or approaching quickly from behind. When you signal to change lane, Side Assist calculates whether one of these vehicles could pose a danger to you based on position and speed – and draws your attention to this by flashing conspicuously.
Working together with the Lane Assist, it can support you additionally with corrective steering intervention.
The Rear Cross Traffic Alert warns you about another vehicle crossing your line of travel when reversing. If you do not react, the system can intervene and brake the vehicle to alleviate or even prevent a collision. The Exit Warning System helps you to avoid dangerous situations when leaving your vehicle. It can detect when another vehicle is approaching from behind and warn you acoustically and visually before getting out of the car.
Lane Assist
From a speed of 60km/h, Lane Assist lane-keeping system can detect whether the vehicle unintentionally leaves its lane. With corrective steering intervention, it can direct the driver’s attention back to what’s happening on the road.
If you no longer show any driving activity as a result of a medical emergency, Emergency Assist can register this and attempt to get your attention. If it is unsuccessful in doing so, it can bring the vehicle to a controlled stop within the system limits and thus prevent an accident if necessary.
Who is not familiar with the situation: straining your eyes as you slowly approach unclear exits or junctions that are difficult to see. The standard Front Cross Traffic Assist can help you to cope with such situations. If another vehicle crosses your path, the system can alert you to this visually and acoustically using radar technology or can trigger emergency braking in case of a potential collision.
